I love a good, close shave. I've always been a blade man as an electric razor could never give me the same feeling of closeness as a good sharp blade can. My method of shaving has evolved over the years, until just recently it consisted of lathering up in the shower (good and hot to get the whiskers standing up) and using a Mach 3 to whittle down the growth. This has worked pretty well for me. Recently though, I read this article and while in Las Vegas a few weeks ago, ran into an Art of Shaving display at the Venetian. I ended up buying one of their starter kits and boy am I glad! I don't know if it's the pre-shave oil, the badger hair brush or the new 4 blade Schick Quattro I'm now using, but my shaves are far superior to anything I've ever tried before. It's not just the closeness of the shave (although it's great), it's the fact that all nicks and scrapes seem to have been completely eliminated from my shaves. It took about a week to get used to my new regimen and if this is how my face is going to look and feel from now on, I'm going to keep up with it for the rest of my shaving life :) If you use a blade, you owe it to yourself to give the Art of Shaving system a try.
