A Kentucky native, he regularly has solo gallery shows and participates in group shows throughout the South. James' work is also represented in Lyon, France. He is a full-time professional artist by trade, working primarily in acrylics; and oftentimes in watercolor and ink or with Japanese sumi brushwork. Quite often, his images are influenced by children's art and indigenous art from around the world. Western influences include Matisse, Klee, Chagall, Degas and Calder.
