Results of CMS questionnaire

Hartman Communicatie BV conducted a survey of content management users. The results are now published. Here are some interesting details:

  • Biggest problem encountered: "integration with other systems is difficult"
  • Biggest expected trend in CMS: "user friendliness will become essential"
  • "With a score of 28, Zope/Plone is the most known cms. Microsoft and Typo3 (both 21), and Interwoven and Vignette (both 20) follow."

Of course, this survey should be taken with a grain of salt (less than 100 respondents). However, the relative values are worth digesting.

Pictures from Vegas

Michael Bernstein came to meet us after the Plone Foundation launch at CA World. He snapped some photos of our frazzled band of foundationeers at the post-partum dinner.

(Updated: I now have the permanent URL Michael sent me.)

When Plone doesn't look like Plone

One thing I hear a lot: "All Plone sites look the same". Well, some Plone sites look the same, for the simple reason that not many people want to re-invent a great layout that meets accessibility guidelines.

With Plone 2, customizing is done mainly by CSS with some minor template changes. Since the core templates were redesigned in Plone 2 to promote this, you can quite easily get a major change in look, as these pages show.

Three CPS articles in the news

Stefane sent a link to three articles about CPS in two major magazines (01.net and ZDNet). The third " is about the use of CourierCPS by the French Ministry of Interior for its mail management duties. According to François Verdot from the Ministry, by the end of the project, 90000 civil servants will use the Zope/CPS-based intranet. He also declared that all the modules developed for the project will be given back to the (Zope) community and published over the Internet." Cool news!
