Plone Conference registration open

I'm helping Robert on the talk selection for the Plone Conference in Vienna this year. Looking through the submissions reminded me that this is going to be an exceptional conference this year. Great venue, a world-class concert pianist, interesting keynoters, and some nice surprises.

BlueDynamics did a nice job on a jazzy skin for the conference website. If you plan to go, show your appreciation for their hard work by registering early. They have to take money out of their own account for booking things. The more they get money up front, the less they have to put down, and that's only fair.

If you're going, register this week. That will earn you the right to yell at me about talk selections. (wink)

Workshop on open source foundations

I was invited to a workshop on open source foundations, started by Allison Randal from the Perl Foundation. The workshop was held the 2 days before OSCON in Portland. David Ascher invited me to learn/share some of the experiences from the Plone Foundation perspective. Hats off to Allison and others for bootstrapping this.

The workshop had directors and organizers from the Perl Foundation, Apache Software Foundation, Eclipse Foundation, Python Software Foundation, PostgreSQL, OSI, and others. It was a really, really valuable experience to be there, but also to build ongoing, constructive relationships with such a group.

I have some written notes to transcribe. For now, I'm about to board a plane back to Europe.
