Viewifying Plone

Note: This item originally appeared on the Goldegg weblog (feed at http://www.goldeggstack.org/blog/RSS.)

Sangeetha from CIGNEX long document about Zope 3 views in Plone. As Michel says in the opening: This document aims to teach the Zope 2 developer how to use Zope 3 style view classes in their Zope 2 products. He provides some code for the calendar portlet as a demonstration.

During his talk last week at the Plone Conference, Michel showed the current global_defines.pt which runs as a huge wad of ZPT, in (yack) trusted skin space. He then showed a view-ified version, where most of it moved to Python, gaining clarity, testability, and a serious performance increase.

Castle sprint recap from Tres

On the Goldegg weblog I made a recap of Tres's recap of last week's CMF2/Five activities at the Castle Sprint. Tres's recap is a must-read for people interested in the CMF and Five. It's astonishing what has gotten wrapped up and put on the trunk. Times, they are, a-changin'. Jim, Tres, Florent, Lennart, Martijn, Whit, Michel, Dorneles, Godefroid, Sidnei, etc. are giving CMF-based systems a serious engine upgrade.

By the way, I plan to share more drips-and-drabs about Goldegg as they come into my mailbox. Instead of polluting the weblog here with it, I'll put it on the Goldegg weblog, which has a feed URL of http://www.goldeggstack.org/blog/RSS. During the transition, I'll do a little cross-posting.
