gocept and Zope 3 Common Criteria Certification

Let's say you are a business selling Zope services to mainstream customers. How would you like a chance to say, "Zope holds an internationally-accepted security certification"?

Would it be worth providing a small share of the funding?

Christian Theune from gocept is the project leader for just such an effort. He, along with others, is pushing Zope 3 through the TÜV-IT process. This week Christian sent a status update to the list.

If you are a business that can benefit from such a certification, you should contact gocept and sponsor Christian's activities. It is completely unfair for gocept and mitcon to assume the bulk of the cost, while the community receives the bulk of the benefit.

This is a good case for collective action. A small contribution from just 10% of the Zope-based companies in the world would make the outcome more achievable.

Plone Symposium, New Orleans, Mar 8-10

Alan announced the upcoming Plone Symposium in New Orleans, Mar 8-10 in New Orleans.

There are several things to point out about this announcement.  First, Alan is a hero for making a tangible effort to support the New Orleans recovery.  I think it is a really neat idea and will be a memorable experience for all the attendees.

Second, regarding the program itself, the focus on "business outcomes" is a clever idea.  I predict this will be a popular approach, putting the focus on the audience rather than the presenter.
