Upcoming speech: Orlando, Feb 15I'm giving the keynote at the ICCBSS 2006 conference, Feb 15 in Orlando, FL. My talk is title "Free As In Enterprise". Here's the abstract:The weekend before that, I will be in Washington, D.C. at a small marketing workshop for the Plone Foundation. I also submitted a talk proposal for an open source conference at the Oxford business school in April. 2:38:17 PM ![]() |
Goldegg reaches finish lineWith the release of CMF 2.0 alpha1, I can now say that Goldegg has reached its finish line. The Goldegg project led, followed, drove alongside in the commuter lane regarding the Plone 2.5 and CMF 2.0 development cycles, depending on your perspective. [wink]I think it will be really interesting to see where CMF 2 winds up. I talked a bit with Tres and Jens this weekend about it. CMF 2 feels like it is right at a tipping point. It's useful enough, as a bridge from the old world to the new world, that it could be a vehicle for a number of groups to realize their goals. At the same time, those groups might feel that it is too early to jump in. CMF 2 needs a little evangelism, a little uptake, and perhaps a few killer reasons for people to get involved. 1:26:28 PM ![]() |
World-famous poet keynotes Plone SymposiumEver listen to National Public Radio in the U.S. and hear the Romanian poet, Andrei Codrescu? For many, many years, he has provided a weekly commentary with an insightful angle on the world around us.And thanks to Alan Runyan, this world-famous speaker is keynoting the Plone Symposium in New Orleans, March 8-10. Now how cool is that! The conference schedule itself was already packed with really valuable talks in the technical and business track. But, like Robert Boulanger's venue and pianist last year in Vienna, Alan has made this conference into a imaginative, memorable event. And as previously noted, Alan is giving conference-goers a chance to say, "I went back to New Orleans first." 1:19:02 PM ![]() |
Nice weekend with Jens and TresI was with my family this weekend in Paris and we got to spend some time with two of our old Fredericksburg friends: Tres Seaver and Jens Vagelpohl. My wife and kids hadn't seen them since we left. We had a nice dinner and, the next day, visited the Musee d'Orsay. Funny how times change and you wind up together in a nice location.Tres and Jens, we really enjoyed it, thanks! 1:08:57 PM ![]() |
