Zum Tod des Regierungsangestellten und Ex-Waffeninspekteurs Dr. David Kelly berichtet der Daily Mirror: ºMPs suspected Dr David Kelly was set up as a fall guy to be fed to the wolves over the Iraq dossier row.´ -- ºIf Dave Kelly is dead, he is dead because of something that happened in journalism which means that we all have to look to our consciences.´ -- ºTop Government figures could face the axe in the fallout after the death of Dr David Kelly.´ Die Financial Times hinterfragt die Rolle der BBC in dem Drama: ºIt was only with his death that the BBC finally referred to David Kelly in an official release. This fact is perhaps the corporation's best defence - that it doggedly refused to identify its source to the bitter end.´ Der Guardian dagegen nimmt die BBC in Schutz und meint: ºA man may have died as a result of the government's contempt for one of the cornerstones of democracy - a free and independent press. ´ Und Telepolis res[cedilla]miert: ºEs ist die erstaunliche Ironie dieses Krieges, der so leicht zu f[cedilla]hren war, dass er sich in seiner nachtr[per thou]glichen Rechtfertigung zu einem Phyrrus-Sieg entwickeln k[^]nnte, wie er in der Geschichte illegitimer Kriege beispiellos ist.´

Nicht nur die Blair-Regierung hat den "ehrenwerten Dr. Kelly den W[^]lfen zum Fra[fl] vorgeworfen", wie der konservative Abgeordnete Sir John Stanley befand, auch die BBC mu[fl] sich fragen lassen, ob sie den wohl wichtigsten Informaten im Hickhack um die vorgeschobenen Gr[cedilla]nde f[cedilla]r Englands Eintritt in den Irak-Krieg nicht besser sch[cedilla]tzen konnte - vor wem auch immer.
