This is a highly recommended read: Mr. Rotor Bids Redmond Bye-Bye. David Stutz, the former Microsoft researcher who was spearheading Microsoft's Shared Source outreach campaign with its Common Language Infrastructure (CLI) technology, has resigned from Microsoft. His "sanitized" good-bye note leaves little room for interpretation. Stutz offers Microsoft his two cents on how best to deal with open source. Why Standards are good. (Linux Usability)   This article, although containing some harsh words (don't let kids read it), demonstrates my problems with Linux, and why I stick with the MS Windows platform.   I like standards.  I like Usability.  Sure, I give up some control over how my machine works because I cannot directly manipulate the source code of the operating system.  I don't see that as such a bad thing.  By giving up some control here and there, I can a lot of flexibility in developing applications that can actually interact with other applications that I did not write.   Also, (and perhaps most importantly), my Mom can use these applications. 9:16:57 AM    comment []
