I for one will miss them. I guess I can kiss my royalty checks goodbye. Darn the luck....
Time to find a new publisher...

John Bristowe turned me on to Groove. It is a very cool collaboration tool. However, I just went through the demo for Kubi (at the link above), and it seems really cool as well. Depending on your collaboration needs, it seems either solution could be great.

This is a highly recommended read:
Mr. Rotor Bids Redmond Bye-Bye. David Stutz, the former Microsoft researcher who was spearheading Microsoft's Shared Source outreach campaign with its Common Language Infrastructure (CLI) technology, has resigned from Microsoft. His "sanitized" good-bye note leaves little room for interpretation. Stutz offers Microsoft his two cents on how best to deal with open source. Bottom line: "Stop looking over your shoulder and invent something!"< [Microsoft Watch from Mary Jo Foley]

"There was a good news story in Mississippi. I went down there and — it wasn't because of me, it was because the doctors and the citizens understand the cost of a trial system gone array and they got themselves a law." Source: Federal Document Clearing House, "President Calls for Medical Liability Reform," Jan. 16, 2003
I want a law too. Maybe I'll go get me one.
Also, is that cpu cost in creating the "trial system gone" array, or is he referring to a TCO?

"There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again." —George W. Bush, Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 17, 2002

This article, although containing some harsh words (don't let kids read it), demonstrates my problems with Linux, and why I stick with the MS Windows platform. I like standards. I like Usability.
Sure, I give up some control over how my machine works because I cannot directly manipulate the source code of the operating system. I don't see that as such a bad thing. By giving up some control here and there, I can a lot of flexibility in developing applications that can actually interact with other applications that I did not write. Also, (and perhaps most importantly), my Mom can use these applications.
