L'apôtre du dollar, i.e. Salvador Dalí, is the epitome of the modern artist. He actively participated in the distribution of fake Dalis (he signed sheets of paper on which later other artists printed their 'Dalis'. 'Les dollars sont plus sur ma tête comme une divine diarrhée'. His 'apothéose du dollar' can be seen as a critique and a glorification at the same time. André Breton anagrammed Dalí's name 'Avida Dollars' (greedy with dollars).
