The American Psychiatric Association Annual meeting in San Francisco has been in progress this week. A virtual supermarket of predigested and synthesized data neatly packaged for the professional consumer. Large meetings like this one are often overwhelming to attendees since there are so many topics, multiple tracks in each - in addition to courses, industry supported symposia and research poster sessions that offer a glimpse into the future.
The various approaches to negotiating such a meeting are as interesting as the topics themselves. Some people just remain overwhelmed. Others handle it like kids in a toy store but everyone walks away feeling stimulated and a little more learned.
