Steven Frank, co-founder of shareware developer Panic Inc., has a side-project that may be of interest to Mac users interested in expanding their Web browsing capabilities: WebDesktop 2.0, a major upgrade to the application that layers a Web browser over your Mac desktop. With WebDesktop 2.0, you can access a fully functional Web browser from the Finder. Practical applications include monitoring stock quotes, intranet/Internet servers, staying up-to-the-minute with news, and more. [MacCentral]

We found Chris's posting about his talk tonight and left late and arrived fashionably late missing the better part of his talk. We found out later that a couple of people walked out. Interesting to meet people for up until this time I've only been reading their blog.

Ok so where do I need to set permissions for posting? Within MT or within my ftp client or at the host?

Now and again I notice that people don’t know this about Safari—you can get URLs displayed when mousing over a link. It’s just turned off by default. (Maybe that’s changed for 1.0.)

From the View menu, choose Status Bar. That will give you a status bar that displays URLs like in other web browsers.

It’s very weird I think to have this feature turned off by default. It’s such a standard part of web browser UI.

But it’s also a very Apple thing to do. They must have decided it’s a power-user feature, that most people don’t look at the URLs when hovering over links. They may be right. [inessential.com]
