Having worked for, at the time, the Parent Company of Starband, a word of warning. Don't be the first to go running out to get one of these. Read the article. This technology is a very much niche market and should be used only as a last resort if all other avenues of accessing the net fail.
StarBand -- a high-speed, two-way satellite Internet provider for residential and small office customers -- has announced that it's expanding its StarBand 480 Pro service nationwide across the U.S and making it compatible with Mac, Unix, and Linux operating systems, as well as Windows. However, the StarBand Web site doesn't specify the system requirements for Mac users. In fact, some parts of the company's Web site haven't been updated and still say that the service isn't Mac compatible. More information will follow. [MacCentral]
