Some more progress. Are you listening Denver Downtown Partnership?

Here's another piece on Portland's ambitions to be the most unwired city: The author writes that Portland earned the distinction of being the city with the most hotspots "by chance," because the hotspots were built by the community driven Personal Telco Project. I’d give the Personal Telco folks more credit. The fact that they drove the efforts that made the city the most unwired, versus some big corporation, is pretty cool. Regardless, it’s great that the city government of Portland is fostering Wi-Fi development there as a means for attracting businesses. [via Nigel Ballard]... [802.11b Networking News]

Disturbing news on the outset. I've not read this all, and I will.

Israeli newspaper Haaretz has published extensive quotes taken from an eBay official during a private talk at Cyber Crime 2003. According to Haaretz, Joseph Sullivan of eBay was addressing senior officials of several law-enforcement agencies when he disclosed eBay's considerable efforts to collect and relay personal data collected from its customers and the public. What follows is a brief summary of some of the disturbing revelations uttered by Sullivan. [Kuro5hin.org]
