It died. So now we're on a search for a new PDA, calendaring, note keeping system. Suggestions are welcome.

This in addition to Feng Shui and we're all set.

Joel of Joel-on-Software has just finished custom-building the new offices for his software company. Being a coder himself, he set out to design a non-cube-farm office, optimized for actually coding in.

1. Private offices with doors that close were absolutely required and not open to negotiation.

2. Programmers need lots of power outlets. They should be able to plug new gizmos in at desk height without crawling on the floor.

3. We need to be able to rewire any data lines (phone, LAN, cable TV, alarms, etc.) easily without opening any walls, ever.

4. It should be possible to do pair programming.

5. When you're working with a monitor all day, you need to rest your eyes by looking at something far away, so monitors should not be up against walls.

Maybe I'll wait on a new calendar and see what sort of deal Sprint want to make me on one of these.

Along with our pal Ryan Kairer from Palm Infocenter, we hit Handspring's big press event for the Treo 600 yesterday afternoon. Besides getting to play with a Treo 600 (which we now lust after heartily), we didn't learn much we didn't already know about the phone, except that there will be four carriers offering them next month: T-Mobile, Cingular, AT&T Wireless, and Sprint. Oh, and the GSM and CDMA versions look about the same, with the GSM version having a silvery finish, and the CDMA version having a dark grey finish.... [Gizmodo]

It really doesn't work when you have to call your manager at work to find out your schedule for the coming week. And then she doesn't get it that she never published a schedule for the people she's responsible for. The Peter Principle is alive an well.
