And I want one. Funny though that the phone isn't available via Sprints web site.

We've been getting a TON of email about the new Treo 600, mainly from readers who have gotten one and can't believe how good it is. We're pleased to report that we received one from Sprint to review just yesterday morning and have been having a lot of fun playing with it. The keyboard is small, but it gets the job done, and it fits much more easily in our pocket than we'd expected. More to come.... [Gizmodo]

Activists around the world are relying on new technologies -- from hidden cameras to satellite communication -- to collect evidence of wrongdoing and promote their causes. By Julia Scheeres. [Wired News]

Current spy satellites don't work well enough for the feds. So they hope to commission a new generation that can keep watch on the entire world at once, regardless of weather. Noah Shachtman reports from New Orleans. [Wired News]

I've said it before and I'll continue to speak out for companies who excel not only with a product and with customer service as well. Brent continues to make upgrades and improvements based on client suggestions and usage. On the customer service end, yesterday I had a minor and annoying problem with a previous version of the NetNewsWire software that has suddenly started acting weird. I reported it and within five minutes, Brent had responded with a fix suggestion that worked. Again, Brent, keep up the good work.

This release of NetNewsWire and NetNewsWire Lite exists to fix one particular performance bug, where during a refresh sometimes HTML descriptions would be slow to appear. [Ranchero]

It came to mind yesterday or some such about a couple of things that we all take for granted and yet I assert don't work.

One - Fare boxes on the RTD and lets say on any mass transit system in the country. Here in Denver we have the option of paying cash, purchasing a book of passes, purchasing a monthly pass and of course there is the yearly pass and something called an Eco-Pass used by business's for their employees. Despite all the options getting on the bus continues to involve getting in line and having the bus driver either take the cash or pass via the box and honouring the passenger request for a transfer as needed. The driver also needs to view my monthly pass and then again has to key the fare box, as well for other pass users. Now I'm sure that somewhere in the Smartmobs webiste there is a technology available or brewing that would help alleviate this situation.

Two - Why does it take a request to your employer for direct deposit, presuming they offer such a thing, up to two weeks to be processed between your employer and your bank? In this age of micropayments, internet banking, and internet bill pay, this system seems still stuck back in the horse and buggy era. Should this not be a same day fulfilled request? I mean how hard can this be?

A shameless plug only because it mentions Denver.
