Doppelgangers anonymous
I find, more and more, that everywhere I go I run into someone who reminds me very much of someone else I know. Because the person reminds me of someone I either like or dislike, I find myself acting toward them as if they actually were this person. This causes me to either be extremely, overly-nice to total strangers who happen to resemble someone I like, or inexplicably chilly to people who remind me of people I do not like. And it seems that the older I get and the more people I meet, the more this happens. So more and more, I find myself surrounded by people to whom I immediately react either very positively or very negatively -- even though I've never met them before.
For example, I am unnecessarily nice to a waiter in a Greek restaurant in the town where I used to live because he looks like my father. This man is actually pretty grouchy and I'm sure he can't figure out why I'm being so extra-nice to him. But I can't help it.

Spring is coming...no, really
Ok. Despite the two-plus feet of snow that are now furiously melting around here, creating small runoff rivers along every street, which are probably right now at this moment freezing solid, I know for sure that spring is just around the corner. How, you ask, do I know this? Because, my friend, I saw a robin yesterday. Yup. An honest-to-God robin, harbinger of spring. So start unpacking those flip-flops.
