My triumphant return

Heeeyyy! I'm back! I've been really busy between The Sopranos and writing a newsletter for  a Fox Terrier group I belong to (don't ask) but I've just released the newsletter to the printer and I'm finally back! I hope my readers -- all three of you -- didn't miss me too much.

I have a few random thoughts that really should have been blog entries but I was too busy to explore them fully, so here they are in digest form:

Self-amputation. So how about that climber who cut off his whole arm to free himself from under a boulder? Wow. I work at a hospital so when this story broke it was explored in excrutiating, gory detail around my office. The debate hinged upon whether or not he could have cut through bone with a pocketknife. (One of the docs said, "No way. You need a hacksaw for that.") So there were many told-you-so's around the office when it came out that he had twisted his own arm until the bones broke and then sawed through skin, etc to free himself.

Rod Stewart. Ok. So exactly when did Rod Stewart completely lose his balls? He is now on the radio singing They Can't Take That Away From Me. Not that I have a problem with that song, per se, but why is Rod singing it? Isn't this the same guy who sang Every Picture Tells A Story? Hot Legs? Do You Think I'm Sexy? Where did he go wrong?

American Idol. I will say that I wavered in my support of Reuben briefly near the end but for the most part remained convinced that he was, indeed, the man pretty much from the beginning. He's just got something extra that Clay didn't have...he has an instinctive understanding of how songs "want" to be sung. However, I never got over my shock at hearing that big ol' voice come booming out of teeny spindly Clay. And, oh yeah, anyone else notice that Kelly Kelly seems to have put on a few pounds?
