When I heard about the Southeast Asia Tsunami, and heard that it had hit Sri Lanka, the first person I thought of was Sanjiva Weerawarana. Sanjiva was a fellow member of the W3C XSL Working Group representing IBM when I was representing Oracle on that group during 1999-2001. About the same time I was moving my family from the US back to the city where my wife is from, Sanjiva was doing a similar thing of moving from New York back to Sri Lanka from the States. With one Google search I tracked down his blog, and was happy to learn he and his family were ok. Sanjiva always struck me as a guy who tried to leave anything he touched in a much better state than when he found it, and after reading his blog accounts of how he's been trying to help with the Tsunami relief efforts down there, my impression of him seems ever more true today.

He recently started the Sahana project on Sourceforge to quickly create a crisis management system to help with the Tsunami relief efforts. He's looking for help on finding some kind of Face Recognition and Matching software to include in Sahana. Anyone out there know any leads on such a piece of software to send his way?
