I got an email asking if the ADF Toy Store works with 10.1.3 Early Access 1 release. The answer is yes and no. The 10.1.2 version of the ADF Toy Store has both a JSP and an ADF UIX view layer, but the 10.1.3 EA1 release doesn't yet have the UIX functionality completely working, so the answer is that you will encounter some issues if you download the 10.1.2 version of the demo from OTN and try to open it in 10.1.3 EA1. We're still working on getting the UIX functionality inside the 10.1.3 environment back to the same level of stability as it is in 10.1.2, so we disabled that functionality for the EA1 release (as noted in the release notes).

In the interim, in case anyone is interested in seeing what the 10.1.3 migration does to a 10.1.2-based ADF application like the ADF Toy Store demo, I have staged a version of the demo here which is equivalent to the OTN version, however I've removed the ADF UIX view layer from the demo so that you avoid running into the aforementioned issues. If you try using this zip file the demo will open, migrate, and run without problems in 10.1.3 EA1. Note, as seems reasonable to me, that opening a 10.1.2 JSP/Struts application in 10.1.3 does not magically turn it into a JavaServer Faces application. It continues to run as a JSP/Struts application in 10.1.3.

The person also asked me if I'm working on a JavaServer Faces version of the ADF Toy Store demo. As is turns out, I've been working on it off and on between other deliverables I have, and I've even made some progress on it today! I plan to ship it about the same time as JDeveloper 10.1.3 goes production.

I wanted to say thanks to the UKOUG for sponsoring the bloggers dinner last night. I didn't count our group-size but we were at two big round tables in Tin Tin's and I'd say were were over 20 people altogether. I got to chat with Mark Rittman, Mogens Nørgaard, Pete Finnigan, Peter Robson,  Connor McDonald, Andrew Clarke, Duncan Mills, Tom Kyte, and a number of others whose names I unfortunately didn't memorize. It was great as always to put faces to names.
