In the same directory where I found my slides on entity objects and view objects, I also found another set that describe a use case scenario of how ADF Business Components supports seamless downstream customization of enterprise applications. It's a feature that's never gotten enough attention, and it is among the real unique features of the framework. This was a must-have feature for Oracle Applications in 1997 when we were first architecting the ADF Business Components functionality. I'm sure it would be useful to other vendors and software houses that deliver applications that inevitably need on-site customization, and then later ship new versions of the base application in service updates or new major versions.

I've added these "Customization Pix" to my presentations page, too. Dateline: October, 1998.

Today I dusted off some annotated slides I prepared in September 1998 -- when my eight year old daughter was just 7 months old -- that explain the interaction of ADF view objects and entity objects at runtime. They still work well to help you understand what's going on. I've added them to my presentations page in case they might be useful to others.
