After checking into my hotel, I headed over to the "Sunday Night Live" keynote which I really enjoyed. It was quite unusual (and entertaining) to hear Larry Ellison tell the story of how Oracle started and evolved to get to where we are now. While the expression sounds a bit cliche, it's not everyday that you get to have this amount of "quality time" from a guy like Larry, so I appreciated it very much, as I think our customers and my fellow Oracle colleagues did as well. I enjoyed hearing the backstory straight from Larry of how important Oracle employees like Bob Miner, Bruce Scott, Edward Screven, Stu Feigin, Andy Mendelson, Roger Bamford, Sohaib Abbasi, Ray Lane, Derry Kabcenel, Jenny Overstreet, Ken Jacobs, Jeff Henley, and others, first joined the company (all before I joined in February 1990). I hope it's made available to watch online for others who couldn't be there in person.
After the keynote, I headed over to the dinner that Oracle sponsored to thank the many Oracle Aces and Oracle Ace Directors for their ongoing support of Oracle technologies and the community surrounding them. It was great catching up with Steven Feuerstein, Grant Ronald, Mogens Norgaard, Paul Dorsey, Peter Koletzke, as well as meeting Chris Muir, Andrejus Baranovski, and others.
Today I'll be presenting "Oracle ADF: New Declarative Features for Fusion Applications Development" at 12:30-13:30 in Continental Parlor 1 & 2 of the Hilton Hotel. I have an hour packed of feature overviews and demos so I hope to see you there. Later today I'll be at the K26 demo pod ("Oracle ADF") in the Moscone South demogrounds if you want to stop by and say hi.
