(geo) A major trip down memory lane recently; and in the process, revisited songs from my core! I had forgotten how much Loggins And Messina had influenced my early music. They were/are adventuresome, clever writers, and combined their talent well with other fantastic musicians, most noteably Jon Clarke. His woodwind arrangements in pop music were at least rare, if not unheard til joining these guys.

I saw the current band on tour a few weeks back; the day of the concert, I had nearly every song from the first three Loggins And Messina albums come to mind: Trilogy(with Peace Of Mind, wow), Sailin' The Wind, Vahevala, Angry Eyes, The Whisky, Watching The River Run...oh, man. See, the band before BoyMeetsGirl was Sparrow(with David Lindquist) back in Seattle. We would sprinkle our own songs with a set of these songs and others. When we'd start losing people, we'd whip out Watching The River Run, and they'd be listening again.

It was awesome to see Jim Messina play all those beautiful Telecaster guitar melodies again. And Kenny Loggins sounded better than ever; I think his voice is more powerful now-there's another level of honesty that I heard all night as he sang- I was inspired. Funny, how we keep going forward-I think I hadn't looked back like that in awhile. Loggins And Messina are one of those rare and precious gemstones from my past-thanks, guys!
