Making XP dance with Samba

One of the toughies is to get Windows XP desktops and Linux servers sharing files with each other properly.
There are many wonderful conspiracy theories as to why this is so hard. However, four out of five problem areas we will identify here are common to Linux and Microsoft NT4 when working with Windows XP.
So let's see what is involved in getting these two systems talking in a common language called server message blocks (SMB), using Samba (www.samba.org) software on the Linux machine.
