Getting Used to Radio, and The Switch Effect continues to make its mark, despite Apple's production issues.

Posts have been much slower here than on my old Blogger site as I have to reconfigure my computer to post while at work behind a company web proxy. Not a big thing in OS X, but I still have to configure it. I hope to fix that matter today and go back to my near-knee-jerk reaction to Macintosh professional news as before.

Apple's Switch campaign continues to make inroads, subtle and quietly, but noticeably. Note eWeek's Peter Coffee's article on Virtual PC.

The Virtual PC buyout by Microsoft, while I'm on the subject, actually has another potential benefit: the tendency for any technology recognized by Microsoft to gain greater legitimacy and popularity. Microsoft recognizes the benefit of virtual technologies since they are losing OS sales as fewer computers have been sold. For a mere pittance, Microsoft can push virtual machines and their operating systems to businesses who need extra resources on thinning budgets. As soon as Virtual PC is officially branded as "Microsoft Virtual PC", you aren't going to find a rock large or dark enough to hide away from the news, commentary, and hype.

Apple's going through yet another manufacturing slowdown, this time for the new 17" PowerBook. They may find themselves in the same situation when they had problems in getting 17" iMacs on the shelves--not being able to meet demand when it calls.

Coming topics: Revisiting the Mac OS X/Active Directory integration tool, and issues in the prepress community with the latest Mac OS X applications.
