Delaware Weddings blog
This website is to talk about my experiences planning a Wedding in Delaware and to also help other brides by posting information about vendors in the area of Delaware. I was disappointed by the information that was available online for brides (and grooms) getting married in Delaware, so I decided to start this site. I hope to eventually include pictures, all vendor information and many other tools that would be helpful and make this site more fun.

Could the person who had made a comment about Cannon's Bakery, please contact me.  I lost the comment with all that happened, and I want to recognize you, since you were the first person who made a comment on my blog.  Thanks!

Wow, so I just found all my missing blogs- Yah!  It's on a completely different page.  I'm not able to add things to that page anymore, but here are all my past ones!

I was in Cannon's Bakery in DE the other day when I saw that they have about 15 wedding cakes on display.  They have these out as part of a contest for their customers.  You just pick your top 2 favorite wedding cake and you get a chance to win a free cake (not a wedding cake, just a regular one).  This is a good time for people interested to go and see what the cakes look like in person, it gives you a much better idea of what you would be getting then just looking at the pictures.  It's a shame that they don't have a website, but hopefully I will be able to post the pictures of my cake.

Yesterday I had my wedding shower, which was absolutely wonderful!  My bridesmaids all did such a great job!  I want to thank my Maid of Honor- Moni, and my Bridesmaids- Gina, Kim, Lori, and my Junior Bridesmaid- Erin.  Special thanks to my mom, Linda, future mother-in-law, Nancy, Mary Lou, Barbara, Muriel, and Kim S.  for helping with everything.  Some people said that it was the best bridal shower that they had ever gone to.

So I'm apparently very naive on thinking that making a Wedding Blog was being very creative.  I just did a search on, where else, but www.google.com with the words wedding blog and a ton of sites popped up.  I'm really interested to check them all out (this is going to be a long night, but I couldn't sleep well last night anyway).  I'll check them out and let you know of the ones that are worthwhile.  Oh well I guess we all can't be creative geniuses.  But I bet there aren't any Delaware Wedding Blogs- I'll just have to do a search on that!

Okay so I haven't written anything in about two months now.  I had a 30-day trial and when that was over, I never got around to actually taking 5 minutes to buy ( I've kind of been busy, you know with wedding planning).  But now that I'm back I'm really excited about writing about all the things that have been going on and I'll try to make up the last 2 months by writing multiple posts throughout the day.  If you have any comments or suggestions, or just want to vent.  Feel free to let me know and I'll post it.  Good luck to everyone with their planning.

Congratulations to my Aunt Chrissy and her fiance Vinnie who just got engaged this following weekend.  Also congratulations to you Valentine's Day Brides who got married on Friday!  I heard there were a ton of people at the New Castle County Courthouse on February 14th.

The photographer that we chose for our wedding was Doris Shaner of "A Woman's Touch".  She has some of the most inexpensive prices that we could find.  Her package for $1,099.00 includes the ceremony where she takes the pictures and the reception where her assistant takes the pictures.  This package includes 20 8 x10's, 20 5x7, 1 11x13, 130 proofs, 1 Black and White print and a standard album. The reason why it is so cheap is because she works out of her home, so there isn't alot of overhead costs.  You can visit her website at www.dorisshaner.com . The location is 22 Thistle Court, Wilmington, DE 19810.  The number is #475-8091.

I bought the Delaware Today Magazine the other day, where it discusses "Planning the Perfect Wedding".  Check out their website at www.delawaretoday.com.

Last Friday I ordered my wedding cake.  I went to Cannon's Bakery on Kirkwood Highway in Delaware.  The exact address is 228 Astro Shopping Center, Newark, DE 19711.  Their phone number is 302-368-7900.  Kim is their main person who specializes in wedding cakes.  She was very friendly and helpful in talking about the wedding cakes.  I went in their with two pictures of what I wanted, but if you aren't sure yet, they have a book that showcases some of the cakes that they had done.  I was recommended by them from two other people on another wedding website.  The cake I want looks like presents stacked.  That doesn't seem greedy does it?  So for 3 separate layers like boxes that feed 200 people it will cost me $375.00, including an extra $25 for the bow on top.  The only thing that I wasn't thrilled about was they expected me to put down a deposit then.  But since I felt comfortable with their expertise, I did it.  It was only a $20 deposit.  Just be aware of that.

All of my wedding invitations were mailed out the other day (except for one, I need to get their address).  Thanks to Kim (also known at Princess Butterfly Bridesmaid)  for helping me to address the outside envelopes.  It's a big relief to have them out, it was one of the things that I was stressing the most about.  Today we got a good amount of responses back.  14 Yeses (is that a word?)!  Now I just have to start working on my Thank You notes.  That's all :)
