It's not really the hottest news, but I think it's important enough to mention one more time. There have been some important developments concerning the downloading/swapping of music files on the Internet.
Firstly a judge has ruled that file swapping programs Morpheus and Grokster cannot be held liable for the actions of their users. Thus peer-to-peer and more specifically file-swapping software is perfectly legal. Something which we all knew all along, except the RIAA and MPAA.
And maybe the biggest news is that of the EMI group, which has decided to offer an impressive number of their songs available for paid download. Users of this service will get an unprecedented amount of freedom to do what they want with the tracks they download.
