It might be old news for you, but now Wired has a nice article with a little (very little) background on these devices. If you visited IO2 Technologies website earlier you might have seen the movies, which show an image being projected into what seems to be thin air. It's actually not thin air, but a layer of finely spread water particles.

This sounds pretty cool, especially in light of Frank "Zillion" Verstraete's new project, called 3D69 (the site sucks), to be unveiled in Sottos later this month. It's an experiment in replacing the usual lighting setup with 3D projections in clubs. The creator is very much convinced that it will work, but it seems it's already outdated, because clubbing inside of the pictures would be way cooler.

Not that I condone any illegal mp3 trading in any way. But if you should want to check out a track or two, I'd suggest you install Methlabs' PeerGuardian so you don't have to fear the RIAA's (and co.) wrath.

The programs blocks certain ranges of IPs from accessing your computer. The list of banned IPs is built by a vital community so I suppose it's pretty up-to-date and does not include IPs of innocent people.

What's up with all those bad rips these days. 2 recent examples: (1) the original mix of Andy Ling's "Fixation" has terrible popping, clearly some one forgot clean the dust of the record and (2) the club mix of "Time of our lives" by Paul Van Dyk has a glitch around the 5 minute mark which sounds like it's caused by badly configured error correcting while ripping from a cd. These same problems are in every version I can find, even by different ripping groups. In both cases I've heard a perfect version at a club or radio, so it's not caused by the media.

Most ripping groups don't seem to share the same dedication to the music as I have apparently. Which is a bad sign really. I guess there's some kind of "commercialism" in every layer of our culture, even in underground and illegal ripping groups.

So that's two more records to add to my "to buy" list ;) I hope I can still find that Andy Ling track.

It appears that Mara's "Turning it on" has finally been released officially. I've been enjoying this immensely for a while now. I think I got it back when AudioGalaxy was still the place to be. Anyway, I think it's time to add a record to my vinyl collection. Up till now it has only about 20 records, so I'm pretty careful when selecting records for it. It mostly contains lots of Orbital goodies, too little Jam&Spoon and way too few Quadran releases.
