about trance
Owkay, another party report is long overdue. After recovering from the GF we headed for Warsaw, Poland. Our primary mission was to keep a friend company, but secondary objectives were, of course, discovering the city.
One thing is sure, people are eager to party there. It's difficult to judge based on the 3 days we were there, but it seems parties and clubs are still a pretty new thing over there so every one is checking it out and unlike Belgium, the scene seems to be on the rise.
First there are the lounge pubs, like Paparazzi. Not bad, but a bit too relaxed. The clubs/discos you'll find most easily are those catering to people who are not very picky when it comes to musical taste but just want to have some fun. Enklawa and The Mexican are the two we visited. If you really want to know about the music, it's a 50/50 mix between r&b and commercial dance. The best you can expect is for instance Junior Jack's Stupidisco. The places are usually packed by 12 and by 4 you've pretty much seen it.
After getting bored we stumbled upon a very nice little bar. I think it was called Lemon, but it could also have been the place beneath Lemon (it was downstairs). Some great progressive trance and a very nice dj, but sadly no crowd to speak of.
So with the help if aforementioned dj and a friendly cabby we ended up at Le Madame, which is just a fancy name for a building that's about to collapse and you normally wouldn't dare to enter, but at 6am everything is fine. The actual party is in the basement with some great uptempo hardtrance (or whatever, certainly not the jumpy kind) and very friendly people who somehow feel the need to learn you how to curse in Polish. The whole thing sort of gives you the feeling of going back 10 years in time when we still used to have raves in Belgium in burned down factories. Which is nice.
