L.S.G. - Netherworld (reworked)

Oliver Lieb has been around for what seems like ages. Just take a look at the extend of the work he has produced in Stefan Sell's excellent discography. He's pretty much been around since the birth of the electronic music scene (maybe not quite, but close). Ambush's Everlast, Paragliders' Oasis, L.S.G.'s Fontana and many more pretty much shaped the music I like. Minimal, and somewhere between progressive, trance and techno.

The double cd "L.S.G. - The best of L.S.G. The singles reworked)" that's featured here has been recently released for Superstition's 10th anniversary, honoring one of their most successful artists. The first disc features reworks of his best tracks (or at least a selection thereof, since Fontana's missing). Don't expect dancefloor fillers on this, but do enjoy the chilly vibe of these reborn classics. If you listen to the featured "Netherworld" rework, you'll get a pretty good idea of what to expect. It's sort of a continuation of what he started with his previous album "The Hive".

The second disc (bonus cd) is more of a retrospective nature and contains much more danceable music. Maybe a little more of what you might be used of (the old) L.S.G.. More uptempo and certainly aimed at the club. There's some rare mixes on here and some new mixes. I'm going to pick "Transmutation 2" as my favorite here, but really it's all quality stuff.

You can buy the album from the conzoom site. That's where I got it and I haven't seen it in stores yet, so that might be the only way you're going to obtain this great album.

PS1: I haven't really had time to put in a good disclaimer, so I'm going to point you over to music for robots because I like that one and I agree 100% (except for the gigs in the US part obviously)

PS2: The server where I'm currently hosting the mp3 might be a bit slow. Let me know how it goes for you. I will be changing to a new host next month anyway.

This weblog isn't death, it's just waiting for a transformation. I was hoping to get it finished last week, but things got out of control and and nothing got finished. Anyway, the new incarnation of "watje" (probably renamed by then) will be mostly an audioblog. I'm currently digitizing my entire audio collection and I thought this to be a great opportunity to showcase some of the things you might have missed. Just to give you a sneak peak I'll be posting a first audio entry later today.
