Search Engine Watch Awards Search Engine Watch has announced the 2002 Search Engine Watch Awards Winners. Google pretty much won in every category they qualified for. Some interesting choices for second place winners and runners up. Congratulations to all the winners. 7:30:49 PM     Zapmeta.com I ran across a nice metasearch engine the other day: Zapmeta http://www.zapmeta.com/ Zapmeta is still in beta testing but features a very attractive design and a nice bunch of web engines: AV, goClick, Findwhat, Wisenut*, Yahoo*, MSN*, AOL*, ODP, AlltheWeb*, Hotbot*, ePilot, Gigablast. (* means the engine is a default). Zapmeta also has a mp3 search. 1:09:10 PM     Mac Opera Rumblings Mac Opera gored on Safari?. Opera Software says the future of its browser for the Mac is clouded now that Apple is producing its own, revealing a larger trend where Apple's efforts squeeze out third-party software vendors. [CNET News.com] 8:25:21 AM     Opera 7 Released - Ouch. Opera 7 Final Released. After only 2 betas, Opera 7 final has been released - expectations are not running high. [WebmasterWorld] Teach me to post yesterdays news - Opera has been released according to WebmasterWorld. Unfortunately, early indications are not good, looks like Opera 7 gets the pan but I am not sure why but I'm sure it will appear in the WenmasterWorld thread above. 8:24:22 AM     Opera 7 for Windows Coming Soon! Opera to release rewritten browser. Opera Software is set to launch the final version of its newly rewritten browser for the Windows operating system, adding features without increasing the browser's size. [CNET News.com] This is a very good thing for Windows users. I was disappointed with the current Macintosh versions of Opera but the Windows versions have always been my default.
