The BBC reports on mid-air messages - attaching content to a real-world location where it can be picked up later. Discussing this, Howard Rheingold at Smart Mobs also points to the HP cooltown vision of context-aware mobile services.

The BBC article talks about leaving reviews of restaurants for others to read. No doubt many people will want their information filtered and editorialised - the likes of Time Out or Rough Guides will soon be providing location-aware tour-guides and reviews.

Perhaps less mundane will be the opportunity for people to capture their experiences and impressions of a place - an ongoing, emergent conversation between visitors.

I can imagine all those thoughts and emotions, prayers and memorials haunting a space. These immanent memories, from the trivial to the profound, may become an integral part of our experience of place.
