Interesting article on how people act in trivial subversive ways (borderline passive-aggressive), in response to life's little annoyances. I like the fact that they bring up the Starbuck's size lingo. I really like one solution for dealing with magazine subscription card inserts: "At the end of each month, he puts them in the mail but leaves them blank so that the advertiser is forced to pay the business reply postage without gaining a new subscriber".

They should have mentioned the knee defender.

I exacted revenge this way myself, once. I had a credit card that charged a $25 annual fee (more like $50 in today's dollars). I decided to drop it. But unfortunately I didn't pay close enough attention to the date, and I charged something 1 day after the renewal. I called to complain, but they didn't do anything. I would have been okay if they had charged a pro-rated renewal (even rounding up to 1 full month), but they wouldn't budge. In hindsight, knowing how credit card companies work, I am not surprised. Anyway, my revenge was to write them a check for $0.01 more than I owed. For the next 3 years, they had to maintain my account and send me a monthly statement showing that credit. Probably didn't get my full $25, but half a loaf is better than none.
