This article on decline of handwriting was timely for me...just a few days ago, killing time before a meeting started, I mentioned to a dozen of my colleauges that I thought maybe we should stop teaching cursive in schools. Most of them disagreed, many had never even considered the possibility. But my counterpoint, besides it not being so important any longer, is that technology has given us new things to teach, like keyboarding and powerpoint (the latter being a bit questionable, IMO), and something has to give. Cursive is a very logical something.
