The Microsoft Architects Journal 4 has just been published in PDF format. You can get it at the MSDN download center. There look to be some very interesting articles in there that I'll have to read as soon as I get a moment. Here's a quick table of contents of the articles in this edition:

The first article is also online as an article, so you can read it there instead. And, the next generation tools article discusses model driven architectures (MDA). The Whitehorse toolset delivers some of what is being described there with the Distributed System Designers and the Class Designer, and the DSL (Domain Specific Language) Tools that had a preview release in Dec. But, we're discussing these issues as Software Factories rather than MDA.

Blogosphere subscription trends. We've all seen the hockey-stick curve that shows the blogosphere growing like gangbusters. But I haven't seen much on subscription trends, so I took a look at the public information available in Bloglines. For a given feed you can ask Bloglines to show not just the count of subscribers, but also -- for the "public" subscribers who allow this information to be shown -- their usernames and the dates when they began subscribing. ... Raskin Receives $2 million in start-up funding to develop RCHI. Jef Raskin, co-creator of the Macintosh and author of The Humane Interface, has received a $2 million dollar boost to his Humane Environment project (now know as RCHI). You can download an early version from the projects website, and Raskin hopes to finish the project within 18 months. Will this be a paradigm shift in user interfaces? [OSNews]
