Biwa, Loquat in Japanese

Biwa fruit, also known as Loquat Just had me some delicious Biwa. Oishikatta!

This is the first time I had this fruit or even heard of it. Apparently it grows in Hawaii also, but I've never encountered it. Biwa is juicy and hinted of rose, kinda like a rose apple. It's it season here so get it while you can.

There's a Honolulu Advertiser article on this fruit and it reminds me of my dad's family back in Maui. My father was raised "up country", that's up Haleakala in Maui, and we had papaya, pineapple, and a macadamia nut tree.
