This article from Slate highlights a real cultural problem: lack of written records in a digital worl. And it's only going to get worse as time goes by. Although this piece showcases the problem from a military perspective, it effects all organizations, governmental and private.

If you add DRM or other copy protection on top of this, it's simply not going to be possible for historians of the future to work this period in history because they'll have so very few accessable records.
