Social Engineering/Digital Security

19Apr2003

Digital security is an issue in every office. Levels of risk vary with each office; but there is one generality that we all ought to understand: social engineering is the most frequent means to have office security breached.

Social engineering is not a technological fix; it is a social fix. Read The Register article that explains how easily office workers give their password to strangers. Then follow the discussion of this issue at Slashdot. From these, you will have a good perspective on digital security, social engineering, and how to protect at your risk level.

Note: When reading Slashdot threads, if you set the threshold level to 3, 4 or 5, you will read a much shorter number of posts, moderated according to the higher content value. And, of course, there is always, a good portion of /. (Slashdot) humor.
