Landscape architecture sits in the domain of geography.  The landscape is part of the geography of the planet.

Regarding digital issues interfaces, serious research is underway to turn Geographic Information System software into 3D urban design tools.  Geographers may be the next group to carve off a portion of the traditional landscape architecture domain; just as environmental scientists have done over the past 25 years.
