In my opinion, this article expresses well the view I have held over the past several months about the decision to go to war with the Saddam Hussein regime. Directed at Canadians, the commentary says that waiting for the United Nations to bless the decision was the wrong question.
Instead, Rex Murphy says, "If the war is right, and necessary, we must join it. If it is neither right nor necessary, we must stay out."
My personel belief says the war is right and necessary. Those of you who may have read Saddam's Bombmaker: The Terrifying Inside Story of the Iraqi Nuclear and Biological Weapons Agenda, may be convinced.
Even more convicing is Study of Revenge, Laurie Mylroie's book about Saddam Hussein's links to terrorist organizations. A reviewer at Amazon.com says, "Written well over a year or so before 9-11, its author makes a compelling argument that Saddam Hussein was the mastermind behind the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, virtually every terrorist event orchestrated against the United States since that time, and that his influence and direction is the real power behind the Al-Qaeda terrorist network - not Bin Laden."
I do believe that if he doesn't plan and fund them, he does foster and abet terrorist activities.
Do the peace marchers read or just emote?
Warmly,
Susan
