A survey of older workers, by the Conference Board, found that 72 percent feel like taking on more responsibility and two-thirds are interested in training and development. Older workers feel as if management wants to bring in new blood while believing that older workers are just sticking around to collect their retirement packages.
24 million U.S. workers will need to be replaced by 2008. As a result, some companies are experiencing a split workforce in which the majority of their workers have twenty or more years of experience and the rest have less than five.
