Once upon a time, Ken Blanchard wrote "The One Minute Manager." More "little books" followed including "High Five," "Fish," and "Raving Fans." I ignored these books for awhile, but made an important discovery. My clients loved them. They were fast reads. Many told a story. The concepts were clear and easily understood by many people. They provided a shared vocabulary and terminology about which people could easily share meaning.
Now I am a fan. I'd even like to try my hand at writing one. I am currently reading Full Steam Ahead! Unleash the Power of Vision in Your Company and Your Life.
It is another terrific, little Blanchard book. The "vision" thing is hard to define for managers. People know when they have one and know when one is missing. This book explains the components and makes the concept of vision approachable. I found myself wanting to recommend it to every manager and CEO I know.
Watch for my newest book reviews. Coming soon. In the meantime, you might like to read my earlier review of:
