Career Promotion

Managers cite performance appraisals as second only to firing people as the task they least enjoy doing. This week, my client is firing people. As an "at-will" employer, the client can fire people as needed. Since I have usually worked in union-type work settings where these activities were proscribed by contract, this is new for me.

In an at-will employment situation, you can be let go for any reason. The current economy is definitely creating less need for workers, so people we might have kept in better times are finding themselves unemployed.

But, do try to make sure that your employees know this and carry it out. Life is better for all of us.

Create Your Own Path: Career Promotion Tips
Tired of watching others advance their career as you continue to exceed all expectations, without promotion, in your current job? Successful workers create their own path to promotion; they don't rely on luck. Self-promotion is key to career success.

Warmly,

Susan
