I've started another interesting book. The authors claim to have studied 10 years of data from 160 companies over five years relating to 200 management practices. The study results yield the "4 + 2 Formula for Business Success."
The authors found that the most successful companies did four things well. Then they did two of four additional areas of business practice well, in addition to the original, and mandatory, four.
The mandatory four are:
- Devise and maintain a clearly stated, focused strategy.
- Develop and maintain flawless operational execution.
- Develop and maintain a performance-oriented culture.
- Build and maintain a fast, flexible, flat organization.
The additional four business practices, in which a company had to excel - at least two in addition to the previous four - are:
- Hold on to talented employees and find more.
- Keep leaders and directors committed to the business.
- Make innovations that are industry-transforming.
- Make growth happen with mergers and partnerships.
Take a look at the book. I'm finding it quite interesting. Can't wait to get to performance culture and find out what that entails.
Read this article for more information.
Warmly,
Susan
