November 14, 2000 1025pm CST You know, you never realize how great sleep is until you go without it. I used to be in the habit of staying up into the wee hours, getting up early, and taking long naps in the afternoon. It go so bad that I would actually sleep about three hours at night and three hours in the afternoon. I was miserable, mostly because I missed a lot of meals at the dorm cafeteria. This year, I adopted a real sleep schedule, but I broke it the other evening. I was groggy all yesterday, but when I went to bed last night I was as near heaven as I think a man can be on this side of the grave. Sleep is absolutely wonderful. I recommend to those of you who don't enjoy sleep to go 30 hours without it and then go to bed for 10 hours. I guarantee that you will find it quite nice.
