December 13, 2000 919am CST As I walked out the door this morning, I was all happy that classes were over and I had new shoes. Then I looked at the ground. And what to my wondering eyes should appear, but six inches of snow. Alarmed, my mind raced through all of the possible ramifications of wearing a brand new pair of sandals in the snow, but my concern was quickly assuaged by the fact that I have no better cold-weather shoes. So I trudged to work on my besandled feet, wondering to myself why it doesn't snow like this on days when I don't have to work. For the snow is beautiful and the weather not particularly cold, but I shall not have an opportunity to enjoy the snow because I will be in the shop until the sun goes down. Perhaps tomorrow, when I have no school and don't have to come to work, I will enjoy the snow with all of the other kids.
