December 31, 2000 1029pm CST Only 91 minutes to the new millenium! I'm tired, too. I don't know whether I will make it to midnight.

December 31, 2000 147pm CST I'm back. I just spent a nice week in Manhattan with my family. I ate a lot of good food and had a good time. Now I have returned to my very cold apartment in Lawrence. I am excited about my new Christmas gifts, with which I will be able to prepare a wider variety of food items. In addition to the mortar and pestle, which I used this afternoon to make a potato-onion paste, I received a pizza peel, blender/food processor and mini-crockpot. I was going to christen the pizza peel this evening with some peasant-style bread, but I decided I didn't want to knead anything. My arms are already tired from manually grinding potatoes. I thought about making fondue in my mini-crockpot tonight, but I decided to wait until I can get some kirsch to do that (Kansas liquor stores are closed on Sundays). So dinner tonight will probably be chicken and potatoes or something equally unexotic. If you are in the neighborhood in the next few days, stop by. I don't have anything to do and I will gladly cook your dinner.
