Yesterday I went shopping around covent gardens and oxford circus. I bought a sweater, because it is cold here, and I need something to dress up with. I also bought some Birkenstock insoles for about half of what they cost in the US. Those were good purchases, it turns out. I ate at The Shakespeare's Head Pub for dinner last night. It was pretty good, as I was able to get a steak pie with peas and chips, along with a pint of beer for £8. I didn't feel like joining the larger group who wanted to go for the vegetarian options. Since most things are closed on Sunday evening, I went to a movie after dinner. Today I plan on going to the British museum and a walking tour of the old City. Tonight, we will go see The Importance of Being Earnest at the Savoy.
Yesterday, my roommate mistook my toothbrush for his. It was really quite funny, since I had already brushed my teeth. He bought me a new toothbrush from the Japanese store, though it is substantially different from the toothbrushes I am accustomed to using. It's all good, though.
I am trying to pick up on some of the colloquial language here. Our contact in London is actually from Kansas City, but he has developed a London accent after only 3 years here. I find myself slipping into a different accent from the one I normally use, too. Funny how that happens.
