June 3, 2001 515pm CST Here I am, in Pocatello, Idaho. We are staying with Dave's brother and sister-in-law, who live here. Last night, we camped at Medicine Bow National Forest in Wyoming. The scenery was really quite spectacular in that part of the state. West of that, however, was the most desolate land I have ever seen. More barren than western Kansas or Nebraska - this land was mostly arid. There weren't even any settlements to speak of. Immediately upon crossing the border into Idaho, the topology became considerably more habitable. Pocatello itself is pretty cool. It has an old downtown area like one sees in towns in central Kansas. I suppose I could tolerate living here, but nothing I have seen yet has made me feel an urgent need to relocate. More to come...
