June 18, 2001 330pm CDT Aaaaggggghhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! I just get home from a pleasant vacation, and I am anxious to update the blog and check email and stuff. All of the sudden, my trusty powerbook (which is three months out of warranty) gives up the ghost. I try everything I know to revive it - zapping the PRAM, trying to boot to open firmware, removing the RAM and processor cards, it won't boot at all. The hard drive spins up, but the screen stays blank and it doesn't chime. Oh woe is me! I can not afford another computer, and this looks suspiciously like the kind of problem which can not be fixed without swapping out the very expensive guts of the machine. Why, oh why didn't I shell out the extra money for an extended warranty? 3:30:03 PM    comment []
